Amboro
is in the “Elbow of the Andes”, a sub-andean region,
where the range changes its direction towards the south. It’s
typically mountains, with big depressions and drops of altitude in
different levels. The southern part has a topography of low hills and it
bellows to the humid rainforest or Yungas. It has an extension of
637,600 hectares/6,576 km2 and height variation from 3,300 m/11,000 ft
to 300 m/1,000 ft.

DAY 1
SANTA CRUZ / EL FUERTE / SAMAIPATA
Trip through the Amazon plains and
last branches of the Andes range. Visit Samaipata ruins, majestic
and mysterious pre-Inca ruins, located in the top of a hill with a
big ceremonial center carved in the stones. Finally to Samaipata, a
stroll of town and its local museums. Overnight in hotel (BLD)
DAY 2
SAMAIPATA / LA YUNGA (Amboro National Park) / SANTA CRUZ
Morning trip through Mairana to La
Yunga in the Amboro NP with a great giant fern forest. Walk through
its trails to see a reach and diverse jungle. Return to Samaipata,
lunch and trip back to Santa Cruz. Overnight in hotel (BL)
