Amboro
is in the “Elbow of the Andes”, a sub-andean region,
where the range changes its direction towards the south. It’s
typically mountains, with big depressions and drops of altitude in
different levels. The southern part has a topography of low hills and it
bellows to the humid rainforest or Yungas. It has an extension of
637,600 hectares/6,576 km2 and height variation from 3,300 m/11,000 ft
to 300 m/1,000 ft.

Sample 2 day itinerary:
Day 1: Departure from Santa
Cruz to Serranía Volcanes, a two-hour trip. Arrive at
Refugio Volcanes, with comfortable infrastructure hidden in
a deep valley surrounded by tropical rainforests and
crystalline waterfalls. Hiking paths with interpretation /
observation of a great diversity of orchids and bromeliads.
Also, animals in their natural environment. (LD)
Overnight at Hotel Refugio Volcanes
Day 2: After breakfast, leave Refugio
Volcanes toward Samaipata a beautiful mountain view. Prior arriving
in Samaipata, visit to the pre-Incan archeological site El Fuerte,
lunch and return to Santa Cruz. (BL)

coordinated with a local guide. After breakfast, departure to El
Fuerte near Samaipata, a tour lasting approximately 2 hours. Lunch
in town and registration at the hotel. Visit to a museum and
surrounding areas. (BLD) Overnight at Hacienda Land Haus or similar
Day 3: Breakfast in town and departure to La Yunga, 30 km from
Samaipata. Hike approximately one-and–a- half hours through the
giant fern forest. Return to Santa Cruz with a stop in Samaipata for
